A MOTORCYCLIST in his 20s has died this morning after a collision between a Mercedes car and a motorbike - a 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The collision between the black Mercedes estate car and a silver Aprilia motorbike happened on the A3075 at Cubert, Newquay, this morning at around 4.30am.

The male motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed.

Police are appealing for witnesses but say the road is likely to be closed for some time.

In an appeal for witnesses, a police statement said: "Police were called to a collision on the A3075 at Cubert, Newquay, this morning, Monday 26 April, at 4.30am, between a black Mercedes estate car and a silver Aprilia motorbike.

"A male motorcyclist in his 20s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed.

"The road is closed and is likely to be shut for some time.

"The driver of the car – a 47-year-old man – has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

"Any witnesses, or anyone in the area the time and may have seen either vehicle involved prior to the collision, or has dashcam footage, is asked to contact police on 101 or via email at 101@dc.police.uk quoting log 74, 26/4/21."
