A small Cornish wedding venue has won big at the South West Tourism Awards 2021.

Treseren, a wedding venue located in Newquay, has been awarded Gold for Wedding Venue of the Year in the South West Tourism Awards.

Specialising in small weddings that are big on style, Treseren was awarded Silver for Tourism Innovation and Gold for Wedding Venue of the Year in the Cornwall Tourism Awards back in February.

Treseren had managed to host a number smaller weddings in between lockdowns, many of whom had faced numerous date changes and cancellations due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Treseren also worked hard during each lockdown to take the opportunity during the national lockdowns to enhance their offering.

This included creating a new organic play area in lockdown one, a lavish cocktail bar complete with gold ceiling in lockdown two and finally a brand new covered outdoor terrace to reopen in April 2021, which has already been used to host a beautiful alfresco wedding reception, fully compliant with the current government wedding guidelines.

Robin Barker, director of Services for Tourism Ltd, said: "We so nearly cancelled this year’s awards but are so glad we continued.

"The reaction from businesses, the stories they’ve told, and the innovation and inspiration we’ve witnessed amongst hundreds of small businesses has been humbling."

Emma, one of the owners of Treseren, said: "At Treseren, we have grown to know the secret about small, beautiful weddings – those couples choosing to be selective with their guest list can create a really special and magical experience.

"Choosing a small wedding is a positive choice and doesn’t have to feel like a compromise.

"We set out to create a really relaxed wedding experience where couples could retreat and enjoy a celebration over a few days, encompassing the wedding day."

With a record number of weddings lined up for the rest of the year, the Treseren team are looking forward to creating memories for many more couples in the coming months.
