The Eden Project has announced that there will be an Eden Sessions series of concerts this year after all – with former Falmouth University student turned global star Ben Howard the first act to be confirmed.

A number of acts that had been scheduled to appear this June and July have been postponed to 2022, having already been moved from last year.

However, music fans will be able to get their fix this year after all, this September.

Singer-songwriter Ben Howard will appear first in the line-up, on September 11, 2021.

Rita Broe, managing director of Eden Sessions Ltd, said: “We’re thrilled to announce that there will be a Sessions season in September this year and that Ben Howard is the first headliner we can confirm.

“Ben is heading back to Eden by huge popular demand. His previous appearances here have been absolutely stand-out shows.

“Watch this space, very soon we’ll be announcing other amazing headliners for the Eden Sessions in September.”

Tickets for the Ben Howard Session cost £41.50 plus £5 booking fee and are now on sale to members of Inside Track. Tickets go on general sale at 12 noon on Thursday, May 6 at www.edenproject.com

The announcement follows the recent release of Ben’s fourth studio album Collections From The Whiteout, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart.

The album, produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, was made in a state of near permanent transience as Ben flitted between New York, Devon, his home in Paris and back again to record with Dessner.

Ben put the finishing touches to the record in Ibiza, as he and Dessner exchanged final mixes online.

Ben grew up near Totnes in Devon. While studying in Cornwall at Falmouth University he decided to concentrate full-time on making music, honing his craft in and around the town.

In 2011, Ben released his hugely successful debut LP Every Kingdom and in 2013, he won both the British Breakthrough Act and British Male Solo Artist categories at the BRIT Awards.

Ben’s second album I Forget Where We Were reached number one on the UK Albums Chart in 2014. His third album Noonday Dream was listed at number 11 in The Independent’s 40 best albums of 2018.

Ben’s return to Eden in September will be his fourth year appearing there. Prior to his headline appearances in 2018 and 2015, he played slots on the outside stages in 2010.

Also confirmed are two rescheduled shows for next year’s 2022 Eden Sessions.

My Chemical Romance will take the stage in front of the Biomes on May 17, 2022, and Lionel Richie will play on June 14, 2022.

Original tickets remain valid for these two shows and any other Session that is rescheduled.

In September 2019 The Eden Project and global live events company AEG Presents announced a new partnership, Eden Sessions Ltd, to run the Eden Sessions.
