The saga of the ownership of the Princess Pavilion continues to rumble on with the change over still held up by legal departments.

At a meeting of Falmouth Town Council's finance and general purposes committee on Monday, Falmouth Art Gallery director Henrietta Boex told councillors that they still did not have a date for the changeover.

She said she still didn't know if it was GLL legal, who had the contract for the site, or Cornwall Council legal that was holding it up.

But she said GLL had handed her a set of keys so she could have a look around and to facilitate Miracle Theatre to test out their Covid friendly flea pit in the auditorium.

"We don't own it at the moment," she said "but it's useful to make some plans."

She told councillors she had a list of 50 people wanting to book the venue for birthday parties, christenings, weddings and gigs and, as soon as she knew a date for the asset to be transferred, then it will be a case of press the button to go.

The pavilion, including its events venue and cafe, has been closed since the beginning of lockdown in March.

It was agreed back in October last year that the gardens would be handed over to the town council to run.

Mrs Boex also told councillors the skatepark plans were coming along nicely with two 106 pots coming together to bolster ring fenced amount in the budget .

She said a Zoom meeting between Maverick Industries, the designers of the park and Friends of the Skate Park has been set up.
