A new exhibition is to open up at a St Ives gallery later on in May that looks to explore the artist's relationship with the Cornish coastline.

The solo exhibition, 'Awakenings' by award-winning artist Justine Lois Thorpe, will be exhibiting at the Salt House Gallery from May 22.

Justine is a Cornwall native and spent her formative years in St Agnes and says she has always found herself drawn back to Cornwall's coastline.

Justine's artwork has been described as "energetic, restless and often reflective her curiosity, born from her formative years in St Agnes, to her emotional and physical connection with nature, the sea and the Cornish coastline."

Justine is an award-winning artist and has previously been awarded the ‘Green & Stone Award’ by the Chelsea Art Society 2016 & 2013, exhibited at The Discerning Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries and is both a member of the Chelsea Art Society and a member of the Society of Women Artists.

She was also shortlisted at the Artists & Illustrators of the year 2018 awards.

According to the artist, Justine’s style and influences have varied through time, which is reflected in the experimental nature of her work and her free use of oils, acrylics and other mixed media on board contributes to her unique and compelling style.

Later in the year, Justine will return to the Salthouse Gallery with another solo exhibition on July 10 until July 23.

After these two shows, her final Cornwall date will be September 2 when she will hold another solo exhibition at Padstow Gallery until September 12.

The exhibition will run from Saturday May 22 to Friday May 28, until 5:30pm each day until the last day when it closes at 4pm.

Admission is free.
