Falmouth Cricket Club have announced a new sponsor for the team's shirt this weekend.

Desmond & Co Estate Agents have been unveiled by the cricket club as its new kit sponsor in a three year deal that was announced on Saturday (May 1).

The partnership and new shirt were unveiled by Falmouth Cricket Club chairman, Mark Averiss, and Desmond & Co Estate Agents Cornwall partner, Adam Pryor, alongside some of the clubs players last weekend.

Desmond & Co Estate Agents, whose Cornwall branch is based in Falmouth, helps homeowners to sell their properties while using the latest technology to try to get the best price.

Falmouth CC chairman, Mark Averiss, said: "I've known Adam personally for around 16 years, he's an estate agent from Falmouth.

"Adam himself is very much involved in local sport.

"We just happened to be chatting one day while our kids were playing football, and I was just chatting to him about sponsorships and shirt sponsorships and stuff and he expressed and interest.

"So I said 'come and have a chat, we've got a few packages available,' and yeah he snapped it up.

"So from the cricket club's point of view, it's a community business, Adam's starting out and he's worked hard in the town all his life, so it's us supporting him and, financially, the money that's coming in to our club helps keeps our finances on the good side and allows us to run the cricket basically.

"Without the sponsorship, membership, bar-takings and things like that, we're on our own.

"And we very much open the doors to the community as well, we want people to come and play cricket, whether it's with their work through teams, or with their children, our gates are open to everyone."

Adam Pryor said: "I've known Mark businesswise for a few years and he knew that I'd started on a new venture back in January last year.

"They were basically short of a main sponsor, which is the shirt sponsor, and asked if I'd like to do it and I said 'yes no problem.'

"I love sport and my spare time revolves around sport, my kid's spare time revolves around sport so we all love it.

"I always thought if I was in a position to be able to help local clubs it's something that Id really like to do.

"Without the help and support of other people they can't run, the volunteering basis only gets you so far. "

Falmouth Cricket Club also completed work on a new decking area in late March in order to extend its social area in the hopes of achieving its 'record-breaking' ambitions for this season.
