A 'major' water mains burst in Truro has left water providers 'no choice' but to close a road due to its severity.

Fore Street in Chacewater has been closed and a diversion put in place while authorities investigate the incident.

The burst water main appears to have happened on Fore Street in Chacewater and South West Water, who manage the water supply in the area, are currently working to resolve the problem.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Cornwall Council said: "There has been a major water mains burst in Chacewater and South West Water has set up a road closure on Fore Street, Chacewater. South West Water is working hard to resolve.

"Unfortunately due to the severity of the burst they had no choice but to close the road and a diversion has been put in place."

The incident is also listed on the Cornwall Council website and states delays in the area are likely.

South West Water and Cornwall Council are both currently dealing with the burst water main and no estimates as to when fixes might be in place have been presented as yet.

More information on this incident will be reported as and when it is made available.
