The latest information relating to Covid-19 has now been updated.

Today's daily rise shows three new cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly taking the overall total since the start of the pandemic to 14,270.

However, the weekly cases, which are on a delay, have risen to 45 in the seven days leading up to May 3 – the most recent five days not shown due to incomplete data. This is an increase from 41 in yesterday's update.

As a result the weekly rate has risen to 7.9 cases per 100,000 people, compared to 7.2 cases per 100,000 people yesterday.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has increased by 2,047 in 24 hours. This takes the total to 4,433,090 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

NHS England hospital updates have still not resumed, despite the health body initially saying that the daily statement was only temporarily paused for a week.

Local daily figures show there have still been no further deaths recorded since April 23, which took place at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

The total number of Covid-related deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust remains at 202 while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall's hospitals since the start of the pandemic remains 264.

The Government dashboard reports that the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 469 in the 28 days after a positive test.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate was still 569 in the most recent data available. This figure is updated weekly on a Tuesday and included two further deaths in week leading up to April 23, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show five more people to have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. This takes the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 127,603. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to the end of yesterday (Friday, May 7) 35,188,981 people in the UK have had received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 17,214,436 people have had their second dose.
