An award-winning Cornish developer has started work on 125 new homes in the west Cornwall coastal town of Hayle.

The two, three, and four-bedroomed houses are part of the new Copper Hills development being built by award-winning Cornish developer, Gilbert & Goode.

The first two phases of the scheme will be a mix of 89 open market properties, and 36 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.

Pete Sadler, managing director of Gilbert & Goode, said: "It’s great to have started work on my first large development since joining the company last year, and Hayle is an exciting place to begin.

"With so much regeneration taking place throughout the town, it’s a fantastic area to be investing in right now.

"We are planning to have our show home finished in July, with the first homes ready for families to move into by September."

Located just a short distance from the centre of Hayle with miles beach, as well as being close to popular neighbouring destinations such as St Ives and Carbis Bay, Copper Hills is well positioned for offering a Cornish coastal lifestyle.

The town also benefits from plenty of local shops and essential amenities, as well as good transport links including a main line train station and easy access to the A30 for travelling across Cornwall and beyond.

Gilbert & Goode’s sister company, Ocean Housing, will be managing the affordable rented homes at Copper Hills. Details of when these will become available will be released in the coming months.

Mark Gardner, chief executive of Ocean Housing Group, said: "This is our largest scheme to date, and we are proud to be delivering much needed affordable, high quality housing for families in west Cornwall.

"The team has worked hard to design a community which fits smoothly into its surroundings.

"It will provide residents with a safe, attractive environment while featuring landscaping and public open spaces full of natural planting to encourage biodiversity."

Open market and shared ownership homes will available for people to reserve off-plan soon.
