A road in Helston has been shut to vehicles after serious damage to its surface.

The junction with Church Lane from Church Street is expected to be shut for "at least a few days" according to a Cormac worker on site.

The damage is understood to be caused by greenery and branches that have washed down the kennels and caused a blockage.

This has resulted in a build up of water, which eventually forced its way up through the surface of the road, breaking through the tarmac.

Falmouth Packet:

The road was earlier covered with water, but this has now dispersed after the blockage was cleared.

The damage it has left though means a road closure sign and cones are now preventing access to the junction.

It is hoped work will get underway tomorrow to repair the road surface and also any damage underground.

The extent of the unseen damage will determine how long the road is shut for.
