A horse and rider were left injured and shaken following an accident with a bus in Weymouth - and the bus didn't stop.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following the fail-to-stop crash.

Saturday, May 8 the accident happened at around 3pm on Saturday, May 8 on Dorchester Road, near to the junction with Lorton Lane.

A white Volvo single decker bus and a horse were involved.

It is reported that the bus did not stop at the scene, but following enquiries it has been identified.

The horse was injured and is receiving medical treatment.

The horse rider, a woman in her 20s, sustained bruising.

Police Constable Anne-Marie Lee, of Weymouth Police, said: “This incident has understandably left the horse rider feeling very shaken and I am carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I would ask any motorists who were travelling in the area around the time of the collision to please check their dashcams for any relevant footage.

“I understand a number of people stopped to help the horse rider and I would ask them to please get in touch as they may have important information to assist my enquiries.”
