A fire engine could be seen in Falmouth town centre this lunchtime after a bonfire was allegedly reported to fire services.

It had been feared that there might have been an incident at popular fish and chip shop Salt & Vinegar, after a fire engine could be seen parked outside.

However, after speaking to the owner the Packet can now confirm that this was not the case.

He said he understood it involved a bonfire at another location.

Fire crews were called out to the scene of the incident and any flames have now been put out.

Appliances are no longer at the scene and the incident is not thought to have been serious.

It is understood that no one was hurt.

More information will be published when it becomes available.
