A popular Helston market has been postponed until June.

The Helston Arts, Crafts and Produce Market, which had initially been planned to take place on Sunday (May 23) has been postponed due to bad weather.

The market, which is located at Trengrouse Way Extension Car Park, has now been postponed until June and organisers are working to reschedule the event for a Sunday that wont include a downpour.

In a statement, organisers have said: "Due to weather the forecast for this coming weekend, the Arts, Crafts and Produce Market planned for this Sunday, 23 May in the Trengrouse Way Extension Car Park, has been postponed.

"The organisers are working to reschedule on a Sunday in June and will announce a date as things firm up."

Helston Community Interest Company (CIC), who organised the event, announced the postponement on social media.

The market features over 30 stalls from local arts, crafts and food producers from across Cornwall and looks to provide visitors with the chance to purchase locally made goods and discover locally sourced or grown food and drink.

Taking place between 11am and 4pm, the market is free to both enter and sell at and is run using money Helston Community Interest Company has received from the National Lottery.

The Met Office has announced a severe weather warning this week, claiming an area of unusually low pressure for this time of year could bring strong winds and heavy rain to Cornwall over the next few days.

The predicted winds are also expected to create a large swell with waves estimated at 22ft, large enough that boat owners are being urged to secure their vessels before the storm sets in.
