A Cornish beer garden has made it into the top ten in the UK, according to new research from holidaycottages.co.uk.

The Fort Inn's beer garden, located in Newquay on the north coast of Cornwall, has been named the fifth best beer garden in the UK according to Yelp data that was analysed by holidaycottages.co.uk.

Overlooking the harbour and the RNLI Newquay Lifeboat Station, The Fort Inn's beer garden is well-known to locals and almost all of the reviews it receives mention the view overlooking the beach and harbour.

The Fort Inn may well also see an explosion of interest in its beer garden over the summer, as research from holidaycottages.co.uk has also revealed that a whopping 84% of Brits are planning a staycation this year due to holiday restrictions brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cornwall topped the list of the most popular staycation destinations, with 48% of people surveyed saying they would be looking to visit The Duchy during the summer.

Shannon Keary, Digital PR Manager at holidaycottages.co.uk sais: "It seems as a nation we’ve all been looking forward to this moment when we can finally see our friends and families and enjoy a drink in a beer garden!

"Now the world is starting to open back up again, we wanted to see where the ten best beer gardens were located, hopefully helping people decide where they should go once the doors are open, and also where to visit on a staycation this year.

"It’s also really great to see that independent bars, pubs, and restaurants are all featured in this list.

"We know that the hospitality industry has suffered in the past year, and it’s encouraging to see so many highly rated British independents on this list.

"We hopefully will encourage many people to visit and support them."
