THERE have been cries of distress from the people of Falmouth and Penryn after it was revealed that the iconic Da Bara Cinnamon bun will no longer be available in the cafes and bakers around both towns.

The crisis started after the Muddy Dock Cafe in Penryn posted on Facebook that it could no longer get the buns or the bakery's almond croissant and they would have to find a different supplier.

"Say goodbye to the cinnamon buns from Da Bara. Sadly they have stopped making them and the DELISH almond croissants. Please bear with us untill we find a suitable replacement," they posted.

The announcement was met with anguish from people with over 180 comments on Muddy Beach's Facebook page.

Esme Maylam said: ""Whhhhhhaaatttttt, both those and the almond croissants are aaaaamazing, why would they do such a thing?!!"

While Katie Eddy said: "I don’t need this kind of negative news in my life."

Tracy Mossman said: "I'm devastated. Tell me this isn't so."

However others pointed out that the shortage was only temporary as the company based on the Roseland, like hundreds of other businesses, was having difficulty recruiting staff.

Laura Gribble said: "Da Bara are having issues recruiting staff so have had no choice but to stop wholesale until they can fix it. You can still buy their buns and more from their cafes and headquarters."

Later on Bara issued a statement saying: "Like so many of you in the hospitality industry at the moment we are struggling with recruitment so sadly we have had to pospone production of our pastries to our wholesale customers. Fear not, they will return!! But in the meantime you can still get all our yummy pastries including Cinnamon buns from our cafes and our web shop."
