A MULTI-AWARD winning pub has been forced to change its serving times after staff shortages led to some customers becoming aggressive when they had to wait.

Posting on Facebook today the management of the Pandora Inn on Restronguet Creek near Mylor Bridge said: "Sadly due to the current crisis in recruitment across the hospitality industry in general, we have had to make the hard decision to reduce the days and times when we can serve food - not something we want to do but it is something we have to do to protect our fabulous team.

"We hope our loyal customers will understand and continue to support us so that we get through this challenging period for our industry but above all else we hope the level of aggression directed towards our team because there have been waits to order, for drinks and for food will ease."

The team has updated its website with pop up message saying: "Hi there and thank you for your message. Regrettably, due to staff shortages, as of June 7, 2021 we have revised our food serving times."

It advises people to follow them on social media for any further updates to their serving times with the hashtag #bekindtohospitality

However it's not just aggression or impatience or staff shortages that are causing problems, some customers have been posting bad reviews on Trip Advisor, with so-called 'keyboard warriors' being very vocal and 'taking the skin off our back' according to the management team.

Most of the bad reviews complain about the wait and the lack of staff, while the good ones say the pub is simply 'outstanding'.

Geoff Williams posted: "People who abuse service industry staff should just not ever be allowed in a pub again. Why are there so many ignorant people around?"

While Wayne Box posted: "The entire hospitality industry is on its knees, begging for staff. I really feel for you, it's been a hard enough 18 months as it is."

The Pandora has been contacted for a comment.
