The latest Covid data for Cornwall has been published and it shows daily cases are creeping up slowly.

This follows three days up until of yesterday of an 1,000 extra cases in each new update.

Today's update shows 10 new cases of the virus for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the last 24 hours, following 12 cases yesterday, which puts the overall total since the start of the pandemic at 14,365.

Weekly cases, which are on a delay, have risen by one to 23 in the seven days leading up to June 2 – the last five days not showing due to incomplete data – marking a rise from 22 yesterday.

The weekly average case rate for Cornwall has risen again to 4.0 cases per 100,000 people from 3.8 yesterday.

There has been a slight rise in the number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK, with 5,683 new cases in 24 hours. Yesterday it was 5,341. This takes the total to 4,522,476 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

NHS England hospital daily figures are now being published every weekday, rather than every day.

Todays's data showed no new deaths in Cornwall, with the combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic still at 265.

There have been 203 deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it stands at 62.

The overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 470 in the 28 days after a positive test.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 570 in the most recent data available, as this figure is updated weekly on a Tuesday. It included no new deaths in the week leading up to Friday, May 21, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that one new person has died within 28 days of their first positive test result, down from four yesterday. This means the total UK deaths within 28 days stands at 127,841. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to the end of Sunday, June 6 a total of 40,460,576 people in the UK have received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 27,921,294 people have had their second dose.
