Climate protestors have marched through Falmouth today before chanting outside the G7 media centre.

However, police have denied claims that protestors "tried to storm the media centre" on Falmouth's Events Square this lunchtime but were stopped by officers.

They were, however, filmed outside the barrier chanting. A speaker on a loud hailer declared: “The media is not our friend”, while the group clapped and sounded horns.

The Climate Strike action group initially set up at Gyllyngvase Beach, where earlier a giant inflatable of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and US President Joe Biden could be seen floating in the sea.

They then marched over to Events Square, where security is particularly tight with a heavy police presence.

On the way the group, wearing face masks and carrying placards, chanted: "What do we want? Climate justice. When do we want it? Now!"

Some of the group told reporters that they were a mix of Extinction Rebellion and Fridays For Future.

A university student had earlier tweeted that a group had tried "storming into the media centre in Falmouth but [were] stopped by police."

However, a police spokesperson told the Packet: "Protestors did not try to storm the Falmouth Media Centre.

"We were aware of a protest in Falmouth earlier today. We engaged with the protestors and it passed off peacefully. We continue to monitor the situation."

Protestors have now returned to Gyllyngvase Beach to continue their day of action, which has turned into an afternoon of music on the sand.

Police have warned that there could be disruption in St Ives today, where another planned protest march is taking place.

The force said: "We are aware of a planned protest march in St Ives today and have been engaging with organisers throughout.

"We are monitoring the situation.

"Please expect delays in the area, including the town centre."
