The Red Arrows are a British institution and tonight's display above west Cornwall showed exactly why.

Crowds of people turned out to watch the display put on for world leaders attending the G7 Summit, and they were not disappointed.

With flips and spins, twists and turns - not to mention their famous coloured smoke - all performed in perfect formation, the crew put on a display to be proud of.

It was the perfect evening for it, with the Cornish sunshine shining in a cornflower blue sky.

Watching from Carbis Bay, just like the public, were presidents, prime ministers and chancellors from around the world.

For the second night of the summit they are being treated to a relaxed beach barbecue.

Cooked by Simon Stallard, from the Hidden Hut in Portscatho, the barbecue is featuring:

– Canapes including: sparkling scallops, Curgurrell crab claws and Portscatho mackerel.

– Main: Seared and smokey Moorland sirloin, Newlyn lobster and scorched leeks served with sides of layered Cornish potato chips, St Just purple sprouting broccoli and salt-baked beetroot.

– Dessert: Beach Hut Sundae.

Afterwards the leaders will also be able to have baked brie, hot buttered rum and toasted marshmallows around fire pits on the beach.

Sea shanty group Du Hag Owr are providing the musical accompaniment to the event.

To drink the leaders are being offered Cornish sparkling wine, German Riesling, Australian Shiraz, Cornish beer and a hedgerow fizz cocktail.
