BUSINESSES in Falmouth are being urged to be vigilant over after another two establishments were forced to close temporarily after positive Covid tests.

An hour ago Hooked on the Rocks at Swanpool announced that it was being forced to close after one of its team was contacted by track and trace. Also this morning, new entertainment venue The Cornish Bank announced that it was going to have to close temporarily after one of its staff tested positive for Covid.

Posting on its Facebook page, Hooked on the Rocks said: "Unfortunately a member of our team has been contacted by track and trace and due to our organisation working in such close proximity, we feel it is safer to close until all our team have received the information to open safely for first & foremost our staff & amazing customers.

"Please let me take this opportunity to reassure you that all our staff follow the strictest cleaning & safest working practices throughout this whole tricky time.

"We have let relevant tables that have booked know and as soon as I have more information about the safest way to move forward we shall be in touch with everyone.

stay safe everyone and thank you once again for all your support."

Also posting on its Facebook page The Cornish Bank said it was closing until July 3: "Dear friends, We are letting you know we are closing till the 3rd of July. All staff are tested before the start of a shift to ensure safety, however this week whilst closed a member of staff has tested positive.

"With a high prevalence around town and so many other businesses closing we have decided to take the difficult precautionary decision to close.

"Thanks for the amazing start we will miss you but can’t wait to see you on the 3rd of July."

The announcements come as town centre manager Richard Gates warned local businesses to be vigilant over Covid.

In his written report to Falmouth Town Council last night (Monday, June 14) he said: I would ask everyone to be extra vigilant due to a rise in Covid cases within Falmouth. This is affecting several businesses with their staff. All are in contact with Cornwall Council and public health and following guidelines and requirements.
