Strictly Come Dancing stars Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli are to visit Cornwall in a new TV show.

The well-loved judges, who have both been on the BBC celebrity dancing show since it began in 2004, are swapping the dance floor for the open road for Bruno and Craig’s Great British Road Trip, coming to ITV.

According to the channel, the series will explore some of the country’s "most iconic and loved road trips" – and Cornwall will be among the destinations for the pair.

A spokesperson for ITV told the Packet that while it could not reveal specific locations while the programme was still being edited, she confirmed that they travelled along the north-coast of Cornwall.

Produced by RDF Television, the six 30-minute episodes will see the two great friends also travel to the Cotswolds, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

The pair are both motoring enthusiasts, with Craig restoring his own classic car while Bruno’s childhood memories are of his father working in a body shop where he saw his first Ferrari.

Originally hailing from Australia and Italy they have both lived in Britain for many years. However, travel around their adopted homeland has so far been limited to showbiz tours and demanding performance schedules, leaving them too busy to enjoy the sights on offer – until now.

Craig said: “Bruno and I are thrilled to be taking viewers on this summer adventure with us. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel and indulge in spot of history, culture and of course some killer playlists!”

Executive producer Fiona Inskip said: “We’re thrilled to be getting behind the wheel with Craig and Bruno; as genuine friends away from the dancefloor, the series gives viewers an opportunity to see the pair behind their Saturday night personas.

"And, at a time when many of us will be enjoying a summer staycation, it’s a delight to join them as they take on the country’s most spectacular drives, and discover the incredible adventures en route that we can all experience ourselves, in a series that celebrates the very best of what Britain has to offer."

An air date for the series has still to be confirmed.
