Update: HM Coastguard stood down the search last night.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "HM Coastguard stood down the search and rescue side of things yesterday evening – i.e. the RNLI lifeboats and the helicopters – but carried on broadcasting Mayday relays through the night.

"we had no helicopters out and flying at the locations referenced in the early hours of today."

The missing diver is now being dealt with by Devon and Cornwall Police as a missing persons case.

Update: Helicopters were spotted hovering low between Pendennis Castle and St Anthony lighthouse at around 01:50am, however, it has not been confirmed as to whether this related to the missing diver.

A search is currently underway off Falmouth for a missing diver.

The search is being co-ordinated by Falmouth Coastguard based at Pendennis.

Falmouth Coastguard told the Packet that a search was currently being undertaken for an 'overdue' diver two miles south of Falmouth.

Packet shipping correspondent David Barnicoat Falmouth Diving Club said: "A major search has been going on in Falmouth Bay this afternoon for a missing diver.

"Both Falmouth lifeboats, harbour launch Killigrew, fishing vessels, other ships and the Coastguard helicopter are all still searching.

"No details of the diver or the boat he was diving from have ben released. Search patterns of helo and lifeboat obtained from Marine Traffic."

Falmouth Diving Club said it was not one of their members and they didn't know what boat it was.

A number of boats appear to be in the area including the Falmouth lifeboat, Ocean Osprey, Lydia, Julie Girl and Peter John.
