New research has claimed to reveal the best date for a barbecue in Penzance.

The team at www.thomas-sanderson.co.uk has revealed the results of its research to discover which date in July is likely to be the hottest.

With summer finally starting to arrive down in Cornwall, what better way to enjoy the Duchy's landscape than with a barbecue at home.

However, when dealing with the UK's temperamental summer months, judging when to get those coals out or spark up the electric grill can often be an art in of itself.

After analysing five years of weather data for July, the bespoke curtain and blinds retailer was able to discover the average temperature of each date in the month and could therefore determine which day is likely to have the best weather.

The data revealed that in Penzance, the hottest day on average is July 19 where the average temperature is 20.4 degrees.

The coolest day is 4th July where the average temperature is 17.6 degrees, a difference of 2.8 degrees.

The team looked at 23 locations across all regions of the UK, including London, Manchester, Cardiff and Edinburgh and found generally the warmest day is July 25 whilst the coolest day is July 28.

Richard Petrie, spokesperson for Thomas Sanderson, said: "It’s nice to spend more time outdoors in the summer months and good weather is known to have many overall health benefits.

"If you plan on having a BBQ when it’s warm, remember to stay hydrated and wear plenty of sun cream and take breaks inside if you feel yourself getting too hot.

"We found it surprising to see average temperatures across the UK differ so much year on year.

"It might be a good idea to keep hold of an umbrella as we all know, the UK weather can be very unpredictable!"
