Rescue crews have been called out today after multiple people got into trouble on a beach near Falmouth.

Falmouth Coastguard were called out earlier today after reports came in of four people caught in a rip current at Maenporth Beach in Falmouth.

Fortunately, the people in trouble had already been rescued by surfers by the time the coastguard arrived on the scene.

The team then stood down shortly after arriving on at the site of the reported incident.

A spokesperson for the Falmouth Coastguard said: "Team tasked to a report of four people in caught in a rip current at Maenporth Beach, Falmouth.

"Falmouth Lifeboat was also tasked to assist.

"The casualties were all rescued by local surfers before our arrival and didn't require any medical attention.

"We stood down shortly after arriving at scene.
