The number of daily positive Covid cases in Cornwall is on the rise again, following a fall yesterday.

Today’s update sees new positive daily cases rise to 159 in the last 24 hours, from 135 yesterday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, has fallen to 869 in the seven days leading up to June 21, from 884 in yesterday's figures. The most recent five days is not given due to incomplete data.

This means the weekly case rate average is now at 152.0 cases per 100,000 people, down from 154.6 yesterday.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 16,339.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has seen a large rise, with 18,270 new cases in the last 24 hours - up from the 15,810 reported yesterday (Friday).

This takes the total to 4,717,811 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

NHS England hospital daily figures are now being published every weekday, rather than every day.

Today's data shows no hospital deaths in Cornwall following a rise of one on Thursday, June 10, which was published in the figures the following day.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic is now 266.

There have now been 204 deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

The overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 467 in the 28 days after a positive test on the government dashboard.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 572 in the most recent data available. It shows no new deaths in the week leading up to Friday, June 11, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 23 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. This means the total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 128,089. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Friday, June 25, a total of 44,078,244 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 32,244,223people have had their second dose.
