Police are hunting for a man who robbed a Falmouth beach cafe this morning after threatening a woman with a knife.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Castle Beach Café and remain at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Castle Beach Café on Cliff Road, Falmouth, at around 8am this morning with a report that a man threatened a woman with a knife demanding money.

"Police are at the scene carrying out enquiries."

Cash is understood to have been taken from the cafe, although due to the time of day it contained just the float rather than any takings.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged in his early 20s, around 5ft 10in tall, who was was wearing a black hooded top, a black face mask and blue jeans.

Police would like anyone in the area who witnessed the incident, or has any information which could assist their inquiry, to contact them on 101 or via email at 101@dc.police.uk, quoting crime reference CR/053632/21.

The cafe has since posted on Facebook to say that it will be closed today due to "an incident" there.

It asked anyone who saw anything to contact DC Colley at Falmouth CID using the same crime reference number.

Owner Fiona Crump told the Packet she was shaken up by the incident but had nothing to add to what the police had said.
