A fundraiser has been set up for the much-loved owner of a beach cafe after she was robbed at knifepoint yesterday morning.

A masked man reportedly entered the cafe and threatened Castle Beach Cafe owner Fiona Crump with a knife before leaving with a quantity of cash.

The incident has left fans of the popular beachside cafe in Falmouth upset, and now they are rallying to raise funds to replace the stolen float and buy the cafe a new security system.

They say they it is a way of giving something back to the Fiona, who regularly supports the community including giving free packed lunches to children during the October half term last year.

The fundraising page has been set up by Tony Archer with the help of friend Georgia.

Georgia explained on the page: "On Monday, June 28 2021 Fiona, the owner of Castle Beach Cafe in Falmouth, was robbed at knifepoint. Heartbreakingly, the offender left with the float and cash from her local business.

"Fiona is a very caring, community minded person who provided free kids meals at half term during the pandemic, when the government wouldn't - along with many other incredible things!

"We would love to support Fiona in what must be a tough time for her. As she has done so much for her community, we would love to give something back.

"Our hope is to cover the cost of the takings lost, along with raising enough money to fund the purchase of a new security system, along with installation for the cafe.

"Every donation, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you."

Posting on the cafe's Facebook page she said: "Thank you all for your very kind words – just to reassure you that I am absolutely fine. I’m just going to spend the afternoon at home drinking tea and normal service will be resumed as soon as possible."
