We end the month of June with another new death announced and a worrying rise in cases in Cornwall.

One more Covid death has been recorded in Cornwall in the daily figures released by the Government today.

This is on top of the one daily death recorded yesterday.

The overall number of deaths in Cornwall up to Wednesday, June 30 – including deaths in care homes and other settings – now stands at 469 in the 28 days after a positive test on the government dashboard, another rise of one.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the now stands at 267. There have been 205 deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, up from 204, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 574 in the most recent data available. It shows two new deaths in the week leading up to Friday, June 18, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 14 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 128,140. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

The number of daily positive Covid cases in Cornwall has gone back up to 161 today following a fall yesterday to 112 after a high of 160 on Monday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, has risen to 880 in the seven days leading up to June 24, from 875 yesterday. The most recent five days is not given due to incomplete data.

This means the weekly case rate average is now at 153.9 cases per 100,000 people.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 16,869.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of today (June 30), stands at 26,068 new cases in the last 24 hours.

This takes the total to 4,800,907 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

NHS England hospital daily figures are now being published every weekday, rather than every day.

Up to Tuesday, June 29, a total of 44,719,762 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 32,872,450 people have had their second dose.
