Cases in Cornwall's three peak Covid areas have finally started to come down - but some other parts have seen substantial rises in the past week.

These include Helston, where cases have gone from six to 29 in just seven days.

Further east, Lostwithiel & Penwithick has risen from three to 16, while Roche & Goss Moor has risen from two cases to 21.

However, a total of 23 clusters out of the 72 have seen figures fall rather than rise.

St Ives & Halsetown has fallen from 61 new weekly cases to 42, and Newquay has dropped from an overall 128 cases a week ago to 84 across its two cluster areas: Newquay West (32, down 32) and Newquay East (52, down 12).

Falmouth, which recorded 149 cases in the seven days to June 18, dropped to 120 cases in the seven days leading up to June 25, across its three cluster areas: Falmouth West & South (32, down seven), Falmouth East (42, down ten), Falmouth North (46, down 12).

During the same period a total of 880 cases were recorded across Cornwall - 35 more than were recording during the preceding week.

It marks at 4.1% rise week-on-week.

The case rate now averages 153.9 cases per 100,000 people, which is up on the 147.8 cases per 100,000 last Wednesday, 59.8 cases per 100,000 two weeks ago and just 5.8 cases per 100,000 people three weeks ago.

The number of Covid clusters showing three or more cases has risen to 60 across Cornwall. There were 56 a week ago and 59 in Wednesday's update.

The map shows positive cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - the name the government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population in each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.

Clusters are only shown when there are three or more new cases reported at any one time.

Anywhere with between zero and two cases shows white in order to "protect the privacy of individuals and prevent disclosure", the accompanying information states.
