Walk-in vaccine clinics are popping up all over Cornwall in the coming days in order to get Covid jabs to people who have so far been unable to access one.

In an extra effort to ensure everyone over the age of 18 gets vaccinated, one pharmacist will even be visiting pubs, bars and shops this weekend.

Chris Naidu from Reeds Pharmacy in Truro wants to encourage workers - and their customers - to protect themselves against Covid-19 by popping along to his walk-in vaccination clinic.

The pharmacy at The Globe, Frances Street, is running a clinic from 9am to 4pm, both today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) with no appointment needed.

Anyone who is older than 18 and has not yet been vaccinated can get a dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca at the pharmacy next to the Wig and Pen pub. And those older than 40 who have already had their first dose can bring their second one forward from 12 weeks to eight weeks.

NHS Kernow’s chairman Dr Paul Cook said: “Like everyone, I want to get back to doing the things we all loved doing before the pandemic struck, like going on holiday and seeing family.

"You don’t have to book, just turn up and get your jab.

“Getting vaccinated not only protects you and your loved ones, but is our way out of this pandemic. Don’t delay, and do it for Cornwall.”

The NHS has also teamed up with Cornwall ambulance service and the town council in Newquay for the start of a mobile Covid vaccine tour of Cornwall.

Anyone who is 18 and older and has not yet been vaccinated can receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine from the mobile van which will be parked at Killacourt, The Crescent, Newquay from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Monday (July 5).
