There has been a sizeable fall in the number of Covid cases in Cornwall in the latest figures from the Government released today.

The number of daily positive Covid cases in Cornwall has fallen to 120 today from 183 yesterday.

However, the total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, has risen to 989 in the seven days leading up to June 28, from 936 yesterday. The most recent five days is not given due to incomplete data.

This means the weekly case rate average has gone up again to 173 cases per 100,000 people.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 17,341.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of today (July 3), stands at 24,885 new cases in the last 24 hours.

This takes the total to 4,879,616 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

NHS England hospital daily figures are now being published every weekday, rather than every day.

In Friday's update the overall number of deaths in Cornwall up – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remained at 469 in the 28 days after a positive test on the government dashboard.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic now stands at 267. There have been 205 deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

The number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 574 in the most recent data available. It shows two new deaths in the week leading up to Friday, June 18, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 18 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result, up from 27 yesterday. Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 128,207. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Friday, July 2, a total of 45,135,880 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 33,402,028 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 412,754 with their first dose and 320,609 with their second.
