A walk-in vaccine clinic is coming to Helston as cases continue to rise in the town.

Helston recorded 44 new cases in the seven days leading up to last Wednesday, June 30 - the most recent data given.

This was exactly double the number recorded during the preceding week, when 22 were recorded.

It means that Helston's rate of new cases is now averaging 361.8 cases per 100,0000 people - far higher than the overall rate for the whole of Cornwall, which is averaging 183.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Falmouth Packet:

In Saturday's case cluster update the town saw one of the highest case rises anywhere in the country, after going from 12 cases to 40 in a week.

To help combat the rise a pop-up vaccine clinic will be set up at Helston Tesco this Wednesday (July 7).

Between 9.30am and 5.30am anyone over the age of 18 who has not yet had their first Covid jab can go along, with no appointment necessary.

In other vaccine clinics of this kind there has been no need for people to take their NHS number with them.

Falmouth Packet:

Josh Pett, South Kerrier and Penwith's new Community Health Champion, working on behalf of Active Plus in a role funded by Public Health England, will be there during the day supporting those going along and said: "If you are anxious about receiving your jab, please feel free to find me in the morning. I am the one with no hair and an Active Plus face mask!"
