There has been a further rise in the number of Covid-related hospital deaths in Cornwall.

It has been reported in the latest update from the government, which shows that the number of daily positive Covid cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has fallen to 111 today from 148 yesterday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, has risen above 1,000 again to 1,047 in the seven days leading up to June 30, from 1,040 yesterday. The most recent five days is not given due to incomplete data.

This means the weekly case rate average has gone up again to 183.1 cases per 100,000 people, from 181.9 yesterday.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 17,489.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of today (July 5), is 27,334 new cases in the last 24 hours.

NHS England hospital daily figures are now being published every weekday, rather than every day.

Monday's update shows the combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic has now risen to 268. There have now been 206 deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

However, due to a difference in reporting times today's government update shows no rise to the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remaining at 469 in the 28 days after a positive test on the government dashboard.

The number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate also remains at 574 in the most recent data available. It shows two new deaths in the week leading up to Friday, June 18, the most recent date given.
