A Cornish hairdresser and social club founder has been nominated for two business awards.

Vivienne Johns, founder of the The Hairdressers Social Club in Penzance, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Innovation of the Year title, at HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2021, as well as finalising in the Marketing Campaign of the Year category.

The awards - now in their 23rd year - recognise the hardworking names that have built outstanding salon businesses, helping to make British hairdressing the most respected in the world.

From standout salons and exemplary teamwork to groundbreaking innovations and trailblazing individuals, HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards are an annual celebration of business brilliance.

The Hairdressers Social Club made the final stage of the awards after compiling a detailed entry, outlining a groundbreaking concept of their own design that is new to the hairdressing industry. Winners will be announced at HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards on Monday October 4 at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, to an audience of some of the industry’s most prolific names.

Vivienne said: "I’m thrilled to have made the finals of such a respected event.

"Launching anything new is never straightforward but doing so during a pandemic has been one of the biggest challenges of my career to date.

"I hope that my ideas will inspire others and make a real difference to the industry at large."

Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of the British Hairdressing Business Awards said: "These awards are a celebration of the talented and passionate people that help make British hairdressing so revered.

"To make the Innovation of the Year shortlist, nominees need to demonstrate how they brought their vision to life with a new and exciting hairdressing concept.

"Vivienne should feel proud to be recognised for her perseverance and entrepreneurial spirit."

A total of 16 trophies will be handed out at the finals, with other categories including awards for best team, customer care and the most exciting salon design.
