Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a collision which left five people injured, including a child, one them seriously.

The collision between a grey Volkswagen containing four adults and a child and a Land Rover Discovery happened on the A30 near Colliford Lake, Bodmin on July 6.

The driver of the VW, a man in his 30s from Norfolk, suffered, what at the time were described as, life threatening injuries. Three other adults in the car and a child were also injured and taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The driver of the Land Rover, a man in his 60s from Scotland, suffered minor injuries.

Police were called to the accident on the westbound carriageway at around 1.20pm where members of the public and emergency services helped those who had been injured.

The westbound carriageway was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out and diversions were put in place.

In statement Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are appealing for information following a serious collision on the A30 near Colliford Lake, Bodmin, on Tuesday 6 July.

"Officers were called around 1.20pm following a collision between a grey Volkswagen and a Land Rover Discovery on the westbound carriageway. The road was closed for a number of hours with diversions put in place.

"The driver of the car, a man in his 30s from Norfolk, sustained serious injuries, initially described as life-threatening. A further three adults and one child in the car also sustained injuries and all were taken to Derriford Hospital.

"The driver of the Land Rover, a man in his 60s from Scotland, suffered minor injuries.

"Medical treatment was administered soon after the incident by members of the public and emergency services.

"Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and are particularly keen to hear from anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
