A Cornish children's author has announced the arrival of the sequel to her best-selling debut book.

Author Jenny Steele Scolding, who lives in Cadgwith, recently released the follow up to her popular children's book - Percy Pengelly and the Wibble-Wobble.

Scolding's debut turned out to be an instant success when it was published in 2014, and the author claims families from all over Cornwall have been begging for another adventure featuring the acrobatic chimney sweep.

Jenny said: "They love the Cornish characters.

"They like to read about familiar surroundings and stories involving the sea.

"They’ll like the new one.

"There are a lot of pasties in this tale!"

According to the author, Jenny has dreamt of describing 'a madcap monkey chase' for years.

"Ever since one scorching summer’s day when my neighbour’s pet monkey escaped.

"It swung along the street from tree to tree, and leapt in and out of windows.

"Everyone in the neighbourhood, and even the fire brigade, gave chase.

"The poor creature was finally captured when it jumped through the open window of a primary school."

Now Jenny has incorporated the incident into her latest Percy Pengelly story.

Published by Serpentine Design, Percy Pengelly and Tumbili the Monkey once again features Andy McPherson’s illustrations.

With a target audience of three to seven-year-olds, it is available in local Cornish bookshops, from Amazon, or direct from the author jennyscolding@gmail.com.
