A number of bus routes in Cornwall are to be temporarily suspended from tomorrow due to staff shortages.

Bus company Cornwall by Kernow said that due to a "growing number" of staff having to self-isolate it was unable to operate its timetables in full.

As a result, four services would be suspended for just over two weeks, after tomorrow (Saturday, July 10).

These would be the DayTripper routes, as well as the S1/2/3 routes that were introduced on May 29 this year.

The S1 is a new route between Dairyland and Newquay, the S2 is a new route between Trevarrian and Newquay and the S3 is a new route between RAF St Mawgan and Newquay.

It is hoped that these can all be restarted again from Monday, July 26, in time for the school summer holidays.

Cornwall by Kernow said that the aim was to "provide certainty" over its other routes.

In a statement the bus company said: "We’re sorry to advise that due to the growing number of staff we have self-isolating, we are currently unable to operate our full timetables.

"In order to provide certainty, we have taken the decision to suspend our DayTripper and S1/2/3 routes on a temporary basis after Saturday, July 10.

"We are hopeful that we will be able to restart these from July 26, 2021 and will update the situation prior to that date.

"Please kindly keep an eye on our social media channels and website for current information and updates.

"Thank you all in advance for your patience and support during what is a challenging time for us all, it is appreciated and we hope to be back up and running again soon."
