Today's Covid round-up in Cornwall shows a fall in the number of daily cases recorded.

Government figures released today record the number of daily positive Covid cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the last 24 hours as 146 - down from 191 yesterday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, has fallen to 997 in the seven days leading up to July 5. The most recent five days is not given due to incomplete data.

This means the weekly case rate average now stands at 174.4 cases per 100,000 people, down from up from 176.6 cases yesterday.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 18,360.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of today (July 9), is 32,367 new cases in the last 24 hours.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to over five million nationally since the start of the pandemic to 5,089,893.

NHS England hospital daily figures are now being published every weekday, rather than every day.

Wednesday's update showed the combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic had risen to 270, but has remained static since then.

It's after two further deaths were recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust last weekend, bringing the total to 208, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

Due to a difference in reporting times the government update only now shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – to have risen to 471 in the 28 days after a positive test on the government dashboard.

The number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 574 in the most recent data available. It shows no new deaths in the week leading up to Friday, June 26, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 34 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 128,399. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Friday, July 9 a total of 45,786,550 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 34,541,129 have had their second dose.
