Today's Covid round-up in Cornwall shows the number of daily cases recorded to have risen above 200.

Government figures released today record the number of daily positive Covid cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the last 24 hours as 209 - up from 159 yesterday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, has risen to 1,011 in the seven days leading up to July 7, from 981 yesterday. The most recent five days is not given due to incomplete data.

This means the weekly case rate average now stands at 176.8 cases per 100,000 people, up from 171.6 cases yesterday.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 18,728.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of today (July 12), is 34,471 new cases in the last 24 hours.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to over five million nationally since the start of the pandemic to 5,155,243.

NHS England hospital daily figures are now being published every weekday, rather than every day.

Last Wednesday's update showed the combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic had risen to 270, but has remained static since then.

It's after two further deaths were recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust the previous weekend, bringing the total to 208, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

The government update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – as remaining at 471 in the 28 days after a positive test on the government dashboard.

The number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate remains at 574 in the most recent data available. It shows no new deaths in the week leading up to Friday, June 25, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that six more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 128,431. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Sunday, July 11 a total of 45,923,721 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 34,872,131 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 418,020 with their first dose and 331,028 with their second.
