However it was announced today that the green light had been given to set up the mobile Post Office in the Trelowarren Arms each Thursday from July 29.

Announcing the news, Post Office campaigner Keith Rashleigh said: "Budock Water has a new mobile Post Office situated in the Trelowarren Arms each Thursday from 9am to midday (slightly longer if necessary.

"Starting on Thursday, July 29. Many thanks to Anna and Martin Cavanagh for providing a room (the former pool room) which is separate from the bar and has its own entrance. Tea, coffee and cakes will be made available."

Newly elected Falmouth and Budock county councillor David Saunby said he was delighted with the news: "This was one of my election pledges if elected to do my very best to try and get a post office back into Budock Water," he said.

"After many weeks of negotiations with the post office, and other bodies, we now have the green light to operate a mobile post office through the sub postmaster Brian Smith of Rame Post Office, at the Trelowarren Arms thanks to the kindness of Anna and Martin Kevanagh, after a trial set-up this morning to see if a mobile signal could be obtained to operate the post office equipment.

"Remember, this will be on a four week trial period each Thursday morning 9am to 12pm, starting on July 29, so it could be a case if use it, or lose it.

Access to the post office will be through the side door of the Trelowarren Arms, with parking to the rear.
