A Truro-based cosmetics company has been recognised for its sustainable business practices.

Made for Life Organics, a Certified B Corp, has been named a Best for the World B Corp in recognition of its exemplary performance beyond commercial metrics.

Ranking in the top 5% of all B Corps in its size group worldwide for its sustainable business practices, Made for Life Organics earned this honour because of its community work initiatives.

Amanda Winwood, founder, Made for Life Organics says: “As a UK Cornish based artisan company, we have always been passionate about doing the right thing.

"We were thrilled to hear that we are in the top 5% of B Corp companies for our work and commitment within the Community.

"We do this from the way in which we support local growers in our sourcing to our support and commitment to open spa doors to those going through cancer.

"To date we have trained over 2,000 therapists across the UK in Cancer Touch Therapy, enabling accessible wellbeing for all.

"The Made for Life team and I are all thrilled to see that our commitment to do good within the community is rated as being as Best for the World by B Corp."

The Best for the World recognition is administered by B Lab, the global non-profit network that certifies and mobilizes Certified B Corporations, which are for-profit companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Today there are more than 4,000 Certified B Corporations across 77 countries and 153 industries, unified by one common goal: transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.

B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

The B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service, it assesses the overall positive impact of the company that stands behind it—like Made for Life Organics.

Using the B Impact Assessment, B Lab evaluates how a company’s operations and business model impact its workers, community, environment, and customers.

To achieve the B Corp Certification, a company must achieve a score of at least 80 points on the assessment.

More than 800 B Corps from more than 50 countries were named to the 2021 Best for the World lists.

The 2021 Best for the World lists are determined based on the verified B Impact Assessments of Certified B Corporations.
