A lorry crashed into a house on the Lizard Peninsula this lunchtime with emergency services at the scene.

Police and the ambulance services were called to the scene of the collision in Newtown St Martin.

The incident is thought to to have happened just after 12.15pm and the road remains closed as of 6pm.

One eyewitness posted on social media warning people to be careful if heading out that way saying: "Just a heads up, if anyone is going this way be careful going through St Martin towards the Helford, a van has smashed through a house and emergency services will soon be on the scene."

The incident involved a supermarket delivery van.

It has apparently gone off the road and down a bank, into what is understood to be the the living room of a property.
