Cornwall is to get its own hot air balloon festival this year - and it's expected to be popular.

Huge numbers of people flock to the famous Bristol International Balloon Fiesta each August, which is expected to take place this year after being cancelled in 2020.

Now organisers of Cornwall Balloon Fiesta are hoping to mirror some of that success with an event at the Royal Cornwall Showground near Wadebridge this September.

It promises tethered balloons and flying, plus a 'Night Glow Show' along with a range of other activities including a large fun fair, craft stalls, food court, circus acts and robotic dinosaurs.

Behind it is Rowlands Events Group, which is best known for running fun fairs across Cornwall and the south west.

The event will be taking place on Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, September 19, between 10am and 10pm both days.

Transformers and dinosaurs will be there both days, with dress up superheroes and princesses on the Saturday, and circus acts on the Sunday.

The fun fair promise to have more than 40 rides.

The event will be advanced ticket booking only, with no entry available on the day.

Entry tickets for both days cost £3 per person, with children under threes year old free.

Organisers have said that around 50% of tickets have already been booked within the first 24 hours.
