Police have charged a Truro man with rape, burglary and fraud, the force announced today.

Matthew Addison, aged 48 from St Clements Close in Truro has been charged with two counts of rape after officers were called out to a report of a serious sexual assault in Truro during the early hours of Sunday July 18.

Addison has also been charged with burglary and two counts of fraud by false representation, as well as assault and sexual assault in relation to separate incidents that are alleged to have occurred the day before on Saturday, July 17.

Addison will appear in court at Truro Magistrates' Court today (Thurs July 22).

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police have charged a 48-year-old Truro man with rape, burglary and fraud.

"Officers were called to a report of a serious sexual assault at an address in the city in the early hours of Sunday 18 July.

"Matthew Addison, aged 48, of St Clements Close, Truro, has been charged with two counts of rape.

"He is further charged with burglary and two counts of fraud by false representation.

"Addison has also been charged with assault and sexual assault in relation to separate incidents alleged to have happened on Saturday 17 July.

"He is due to appear before Truro Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 22 July."
