The number of daily Covid cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has risen again with another new death recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

In the latest Covid round-up the number of daily cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly the figure has risen again to by 344 in the last 24 hours, from 269 yesterday.

The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) in the most recent seven-day period given, which is on a delay, continues on an upward trend to 2,241 in the seven days leading up to July 17, up from 2,048 yesterday. The most recent five days is not given due to incomplete data.

This means the weekly case rate average stands at 391.9 cases per 100,000 people, up again from 358.2 cases reported yesterday.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 21,872.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of today (July 22), has gone up by 39,906 a drop on 44,104 yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to over five million nationally since the start of the pandemic to 5,602, 321.

NHS England hospital daily figures are now being published every weekday, rather than every day.

Today another new death was announced today, following the one announced at the Royal Cornwall Hospital yesterday. The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic has now risen to 274.

It was recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust on July 21 bringing the total there to 212, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 62.

The government update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – now stands at 476 in the 28 days after a positive test on the government dashboard.

The number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is now at 579 in the most recent data available. It shows three new deaths in the week leading up to Friday, July 9, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show that 84 more people have died within 28 days of their first positive test result. Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stands at 128,980. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Wednesday, July 21 a total of 46,433,845 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 36,587,904 have had their second dose.

In Cornwall it is 420,874 with their first dose and 341,932 with their second.
