A North Cornwall gallery will be showcasing a Falmouth University graduate's collection of artworks.

This August, New Craftsman Gallery has said it is proud to present young painter Will Calver's latest collection of still-life works.

Will graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Falmouth University in 2019, and now paints full time at his studio, which is set among fruit trees and farmland in rural Kent.

Here, Will says he is able witness the slow turning of the seasons, which helps to create a sense of naturalism in his subtle works.

Will paints from direct observation, examining interactions between light, shape and colour, and expressing the intimacy and quietude that develop during time spent in the presence of his subjects. Classical figuration, spacious compositions and an extraordinary skill for interpreting tone and form give his paintings of quince, lemons, peaches, pebbles, bottles and ceramic objects a beauty and power rarely seen in the contemporary art today.

Since graduating, Will has exhibited at the London Academy of Representational Art, at Porthmeor Studios St Ives, and at the New Craftsman Gallery, where he held his very first solo show.

This time, his third exhibition at New Craftsman includes a collection of twenty still-life 'alla prima' works painted from life in oil on linen canvas.
