The organisers of Falmouth Week have announced several changes to the evening entertainment schedule, and a new open-air stage set, to allow a series of the highly popular evening events to go ahead in the upcoming summer celebration.

The Wurzels, Reef, Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show and the Ska Night with Bad Manners have been cancelled.

All daytime activities, including the Red Arrows breath-taking appearance, will all still be going ahead as part of Falmouth Week from August 6 to August 15. However, organisers have taken the necessary decision to cancel the first weekend of evening entertainment, and the mid-week night-time performances, and have confirmed a range of options, including refunds for those who have already purchased tickets for these events.

The second weekend of evening concerts – namely 80s vs 90s night on Friday August 13, The Bohemians vs Fleetwood Bac on Saturday 14 and Russell Howard on Sunday 15 – are all still going ahead with the new open-air stage setting designed to maximise personal safety and reassurance for everyone attending.

Ticket holders for these cancelled events can either:

•Gain a refund by contacting: seetickets.com/customerservice•Swap their tickets for one of the remaining shows via seetickets.com/customerservice*•Keep their tickets and reuse them for one of the shows in Falmouth Week 2022**

Further details on the processes for each of the options above will be released on the Falmouth Week website falmouthweek.co.uk and on the Falmouth Week social media platforms at facebook.com/FalmouthWeek and twitter.com/FalmouthWeek as soon as possible. Tim Vigus of South West Bars and Events who operates the evening entertainment for Falmouth Week said, “We are all gutted to have to make these evening event cancellations, however, working in collaboration with Cornwall Council, Public Health and the Falmouth Town Team, weather permitting, we are delighted to have maintained the finale weekend of events.

"We are all working extremely hard against the ongoing challenges of the pandemic including the track and trace self-isolation rules and the current shortage of staff. Instead of cancelling the entire schedule, we are grateful to be able to run our cut down version, with our new open-air stage on August 13, 14 and 15 at The Waterfront, Church Street Car Park.”

Tim continues, “We are very quickly clarifying the details for ticket refunds, switches or for those wishing to hold onto their tickets and reuse them for next year’s events and we very much appreciate everyone’s patience whilst we get these details agreed with the ticket handling companies See Tickets and Russell Howard. Again, we are sorry to have to make these schedule cuts, but at the moment, these are the only options available to us and we are so looking forward to seeing everyone down at The Waterfront for a fantastic finale weekend!”

Falmouth Week’s packed daytime schedule is unaffected with fleet racing for yachts and dayboats complemented by a jam-packed schedule of daytime shoreside entertainment. Continuing activities include the Falmouth Week Carnival, a large 40-foot Victorian carousel on The Moor, Cornwall Film Festivals Movie in the Park, the Action Sports Tour stunt bike display team on Church Street Car Park, an RNLI Fun Day at Custom House Quay, and Dragon Boat racing.

Taking place on Wednesday the August 11 2021 at 6.15pm, the Red Arrows are returning after a three year absence to delight spectators with their world-class display over Falmouth Bay. The Red Arrows are viewed as the world’s finest aerobatic display team. Falmouth Bay creates the perfect backdrop for their show and there are several vantage points to view the performance, including Pendennis Point, Cliff Road, Castle, Gyllyngvase and Swanpool Beaches. Organisers are asking people to utilise the multiple vantage points to ensure more effective crowd control and spacing.
