WHEN Olly Walters' wedding ring slipped off his finger whilst swimming in the sea off Pendennis Point he never thought he'd see it again, until that was amazingly a snorkeller found it on the other side of Falmouth Bay.

Mr Walters and his wife Sarah from Falmouth were swimming in coves off the Point last Wednesday, July 21 with their two little boys when Olly realised that his wedding ring was missing.

"When Olly got out as we were sitting on the rocks he looked down and realised his ring was missing," Sarah told the Packet. "It had slipped off in the cold water. The tide was right up so we stood no chance of finding it. We did come back on low tide but no joy unfortunately and we just accepted that it was lost to the sea .....but no !! Ha ..amazing."

Amazing indeed because on that same day at 7.48pm Kelly Lousia Astley posted on the Falmouth, Penryn and the Surrounding Area Facebook page: "Found this men’s ring while snorkelling near Hooked on the Rocks this evening if anyone has lost it?" The cafe is around two miles away from where the ring was lost.

Falmouth Packet:

Sarah had thought about posting the loss on Facebook but thought that it was such a long shot she hadn't bothered.

It was only while scrolling through Facebook that evening that she came across Kelly's post and realised it was her husband's ring.

Falmouth Packet:

The ring was found by Kelly Astley

Writing on Facebook in response she said: "It's not often I'm left absolutely speechless, but today I have no words at all. Apart from thank you so much to the lady that found Olly Walters wedding ring whilst out snorkelling!!!

"I thought about putting a post on here but thought it was such a long shot I didn't do it ...well ..... laying in bed last night scrolling through Facebook a post on one of the local sites came us with a picture of ol's ring!

"It had been found a good distance down the coast by this lovely lady out snorkelling. It has been on some journey to turn up where it did. I couldn't believe it!!

"Thank you so much lovely lady."

Sarah now wonders whether a bird had picked it up for it to have travelled such a distance in such a short time.

Kelly said she was so glad they had it back, especially as it is sentimental, but it was only what anyone would do if they had found it.
