Helston Town Council have announced the installation of new mobile speeds signs in the town.

Drivers in Helston may have noticed new signage that has popped up around the Trengrouse Way over the past week, which are being used by the Town Council in order to gather information regarding vehicle speeds around the town.

The mobile speeds signs will stay on Trengrouse Way for approximately another week before moving on to other parts of Helston.

It is hoped that the signs will also paint a wider picture of speeding in Helston and inform the Town Council as to what other measures may be necessary to tackle speed in and around the town.

In the announcement posted on its social media page, Helston Town Council said: "Today our two new speed signs have been officially launched at Trengrouse Way.

"These signs will stay at Trengrouse Way for at least two weeks before being moved to other locations around Helston.

"The signs will enable us to gather information about speeds around town and can be used with other agencies to determine whether any other measures are required to deal with speeding.

"Whilst most drivers are conscientious about their speed it is hoped they will provide a reminder to drivers about the speed limits."

The installation of the mobile signs came days after Cornwall Council Cabinet member for transport, Philip Desmonde, claimed he would not be listening to Highways officers advice regarding the installation of speed bumps.
