Streets in Helston became the scene of a police chase last Friday (July 23) as officers in a police van pursued a car that refused to stop.

The pursuit ended in death threats towards the arresting officers after a suspect was caught and arrested on suspicion of drink driving, failing to stop for police and driving while disqualified as well as making threats to kill to the officers.

At around 6pm on Friday police gave chase to a white car that did not stop when officers requested.

The chase involved several streets in the town and ended with the white car driving up the ramp from Meneage Street into Oliver’s Terrace and towards George V Playing Field, which is a dead end.

It was closely followed by a police van who were using blue flashing lights and sirens.

The white car could later be seen abandoned at the end of the footpath running adjacent to Helston Rugby Club field, just before the cut through leading to Hermes Road, having driven along the footpath past the playing field and children’s play park.
